Kidcare4u is a registered charity providing services for diverse ethnic families living on low income households in Newport.
Our main aims and objectives are to provide various projects by which we can improve Education, Integration, Employment and Health & Wellbeing. We understand that we need to support families and many of the families we work with also have language and IT barrier issues. Our projects are divided into two parts designed to benefit children and adults according to their needs. Our diverse range of staff are from the community and are able to communicate in various languages reaching out to those people who are vulnerable and at most need.
KidCare4U provides a vibrant Saturday Club for young people aged 5 to 18, welcoming over 160 children from diverse ethnic backgrounds across Newport. Our club offers a wide range of activities designed to enhance both academic performance and personal growth. From providing support in increasing attainment levels in subjects like maths, English, and science to engaging in fun sports, creative crafts, and exciting group trips, we ensure that every child has a safe and supportive environment where they can thrive.
Parents place their trust in us, and with the help of our partner including the local health board, Newport City Council, sports organisations and youth services we deliver a variety of workshops that focus on health, well-being, creativity, and more. These opportunities provide experiences that children may not have access to otherwise.
For those who are not interested in higher education we have strong links with local employers and businesses to help them find apprenticeships, providing them with a solid foundation for future careers. We also take children on inspiring trips to places like Oxford University and Linklaters’ headquarters in London, offering them a glimpse of what they can achieve despite potential financial or social challenges.
The Saturday Club is more than just an activity hub, it is a safe, inclusive space where children from diverse communities are given the guidance, opportunities, and support they need to excel in life. We run youth volunteering and mentoring programmes where young people are given an opportunity to take ownership and have responsibilities.
Training and resources
At KidCare4U, we provide comprehensive training, mentoring, and youth volunteering programs for young people aged 14 to 18. We also offer the Duke of Edinburgh programme. Our focus is on offering these opportunities to children from diverse ethnic backgrounds, who often face barriers that limit their access to such programs. Through these initiatives, we aim to empower young people by equipping them with the skills, confidence, and experiences they need to overcome challenges and reach their full potential.
Experience
At KidCare4U we have extensive experience in delivering research projects for organisations such as the University of South Wales, The Welsh Government and the local health board. Our expertise lies in reaching diverse ethnic communities, collecting valuable data on specific issues, and producing detailed reports on relevant subjects. This capability allows us to effectively engage with hard to reach groups, gather meaningful insights, and contribute to informed decision making processes.
