The Community Youth Work team at Community House Eton Road provides a safe space for young people in Newport where they can access tailored support.

Since 2012, young people from the area of Maindee and beyond have had access to a third sector youth project that supports their needs, listens to them, gives them a space to grow, and encourages them to build stronger bonds with their peers and local community.

We believe in the power of young peoples voices and we are led by what young people tell us they need and want. We start where young people are at, and empower them to gain new skills, build resilience and be an active part of their communities. Our main aims are:

For young people to have fun in a safe place, free from judgement or oppression.

For young people to be aware of supportive networks and the opportunities that are available.

To be inclusive and accessible whilst breaking down barriers between young people, and addressing barriers that young people face.

To support the wider community when they need it, and encourage young people to do the same

To give young people self determination and self discipline, to enable them to overcome adversity.

To ‘be crazy’ about the young people we work with, treat them with the love and respect they deserve.
