UCAN Productions (Unique Creative Arts Network) is an award winning organisation that was founded in 2005 to address the lack of performance and creative arts based activities for blind and partially sighted children and young people in Wales. The organisation exists to prove that visual impairment is no barrier to success.
UCAN continues to develop specialised programmes to help improve physical and vocal confidence, raise aspirations, promote individual abilities and challenge the perceptions of the sighted world.
UCAN currently has over 700 visually impaired members in Wales aged between 7 and 25 years old and also works throughout the UK and Europe, recently completing a two year Erasmus Plus VISION project with partners from Italy, Bulgaria, Luxembourg and Belgium.
The company is hosted by Cardiff University School of Optometry and has partnership agreements with RNIB Cymru, Guide Dogs for the Blind, and Wales Council of the Blind. Since 2015 the UCAN Team has delivered the drama course at The Royal National College for the Blind in Hereford.
